Text 1 – Daily life routine:
En semaine, je me lève à 6h30, je prends une douche et un petit déjeuner et je pars au travail vers 7h15.
Pour arriver à mon entreprise à 8 heures, il me faut environ 45 minutes en voiture, mais parfois j’arrive en retard à cause des embouteillages.
Vers 10 heures, je vais boire un café en salle de pause.
Je déjeune ensuite avec mes collègues vers 12h15 à la cantine de mon entreprise, mais parfois, nous allons aussi au restaurant manger un plat du jour.
Nous revenons ensuite au bureau vers 13h30, et travaillons jusqu’à 17h 30.
During the week, I get up at 6:30 am, take a shower and breakfast and leave for work around 7:15 am.
It takes me about 45 minutes to get to my company by 8 a.m., but sometimes I’m late because of traffic jams.
Around 10 am, I go to the break room for a coffee.
Then I have lunch with my colleagues around 12:15 in the canteen of my company, but sometimes we also go to the restaurant to eat a “plat du jour”.
We come back to the office around 1:30 pm, and work until 5:30 pm.
Text 2 – From Berlin to Paris:
Martin s’est installé à Paris en 2018, pour apprendre le français et trouver un emploi sur place.
Originaire de Berlin, en Allemagne, il était fasciné par la culture française depuis son adolescence et rêvait depuis longtemps de venir vivre en France.
Aujourd’hui, quatre ans plus tard, il parle couramment la langue.
Il a trouvé un travail dans une boîte de marketing, et s’est marié avec Julie, une Française, en 2021. Le couple a récemment eu son premier enfant.
Le petit Tobias est né en bonne santé le 13 avril 2022, et pesait quatre kilos à la naissance.
Martin moved to Paris in 2018, to learn French and find a job there.
From Berlin, Germany, he had been fascinated by French culture since he was a teenager and had long dreamed of coming to live in France.
Now, four years later, he speaks fluently French.
He found a job in a marketing company and married Julie, a French woman, in 2021. The couple recently had their first child.
Little Tobias was born healthy on April 13, 2022, and weighed four kilos at birth.
Text 3 – Paul loves animals:
Paul vit dans une maison près du lac d’Annecy. Il a un frère et deux sœurs. Son père est médecin et sa mère est infirmière.
Paul est le petit dernier de la famille, il aime jouer au foot, regarder des dessins animés et s’occuper de son adorable cochon d’inde.
Il aimerait aussi avoir un aquarium avec des poissons et des crevettes, mais ses parents pensent qu’il est encore trop jeune pour s’en occuper car il n’a que dix ans.
Passionné par les animaux, le jeune garçon est triste et espère que ses parents changeront bientôt d’avis.
Paul va devoir patienter, mais sa famille pourrait lui faire une surprise à son anniversaire pour le féliciter de ses bonnes notes à l’école.
Paul lives in a house near Lake Annecy. He has one brother and two sisters. His father is a doctor and his mother is a nurse.
Paul is the youngest in his family, he likes to play soccer, watch cartoons and take care of his adorable guinea pig.
He would also like to have an aquarium with fish and shrimp, but his parents think he is still too young to take care of it because he is only ten years old.
Passionate about animals, the young boy is sad and hopes that his parents will soon change their minds.
Paul will have to wait, but his family might surprise him on his birthday to congratulate him on his good grades at school.
Text 4 – Lucie comes back from school:
Lucie vient de rentrer de l’école, elle pose son cartable sur la table du salon et se jette sur le canapé.
Son frère Quentin est en train de regarder Harry Potter à l’école des sorciers, un film que Lucie adore, elle l’a déjà vu une dizaine de fois.
Leur maman est dans la cuisine en train de préparer à manger.
Elle prépare un canard à l’orange avec une purée de pommes de terre. Lucie et Quentin ont le ventre qui gargouille en sentant l’odeur qui se propage dans le salon.
Mais les deux enfants devront attendre que leur papa rentre pour se mettre à table.
Lucie just came back from school; she puts her school bag on the living room table and jumps on the sofa.
Her brother Quentin is watching Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, a movie Lucie loves, she has already seen it ten times.
Their mother is in the kitchen preparing food.
She’s cooking a “duck à l’orange” with mashed potatoes. Lucie and Quentin’s stomachs are rumbling as the smell of the food spreads through the living room.
But the two children will have to wait for their daddy to come home to sit down to eat.
Text 5 – Holidays in Spain:
Je viens de rentrer de mes vacances en Espagne. J’ai passé huit jours à Barcelone chez mon ami Joël. Il a un bel appartement avec un balcon et une vue magnifique.
Nous avons visité de nombreux lieux touristiques célèbres. Ma visite préférée a été celle de la Sagrada Familia, une basilique magnifique dont la construction a débuté en 1882.
J’ai pris une centaine de photos pendant mon séjour.
Joël m’a également fait découvrir la cuisine locale, nous avons mangé dans des restaurants délicieux et pas trop chers.
J’ai tellement aimé Barcelone, que je compte déjà y retourner l’année prochaine.
I just returned from my vacation in Spain. I spent eight days in Barcelona at my friend Joel’s place. He has a beautiful apartment with a balcony and a wonderful view.
We visited many famous tourist places. My favorite visit was to the Sagrada Familia, a beautiful basilica whose construction started in 1882.
I took about 100 pictures during my stay.
Joel also introduced me to the local cuisine, we ate in delicious and not too expensive restaurants.
I liked Barcelona so much, that I already plan to go back next year.
Text 6 – Paris Marathon:
Julien a décidé de participer au marathon de Paris, qui se déroulera le 2 avril 2023.
C’est un sacré défi pour le jeune homme de 22 ans, car il n’est pas très sportif et a pris du poids ces dernières années.
Heureusement, son meilleur ami, Marc, est là pour le motiver.
Marc, qui a déjà terminé plusieurs marathons, lui a fourni un programme d’entraînement pour l’aider à se préparer et arriver au bout des 42 km.
Avec cinq séances par semaine, Julien a de grandes chances de finir la course en moins de quatre heures.
Julien decided to participate to the Paris Marathon, which will be held on April 2, 2023.
This is quite a challenge for the 22-year-old, as he is not very active and has gained weight in recent years.
Luckily, his best friend, Marc, is there to motivate him.
Marc, who has already completed several marathons, provided him a training program to help him get ready and finish the 42 km.
With five sessions per week, Julien has a good chance of finishing the race in under four hours.
Text 7 – Fishing trip:
Gaston vient de se réveiller, il est excité, car aujourd’hui, il va aller à la pêche pour la première fois avec son père.
Jusqu’à maintenant, Robert avait toujours refusé d’emmener son fils avec lui, car il ne savait pas nager.
Mais la tante de Gaston, lui a payé des cours de natation le mois dernier, et maintenant, il est comme un poisson dans l’eau lorsqu’il va à la piscine.
Robert a préparé trois cannes à pêche, deux pour lui et une petite pour Gaston. Ils ont des asticots et des vers de terre.
Gaston est impatient d’attraper son premier poisson, et Robert est heureux de pouvoir enfin aller pêcher avec son fils.
Gaston just woke up, he is excited, because today he is going fishing for the first time with his father.
Until now, Robert always refused to take his son with him, because he couldn’t swim.
But Gaston’s aunt paid him swimming lessons last month, and now he’s like a duck to water when he goes to the pool.
Robert prepared three fishing rods, two for him and a small one for Gaston. They have maggots and earthworms.
Gaston can’t wait to catch his first fish, and Robert is happy to finally go fishing with his son.
Text 8 – Too much chocolate:
Elena n’est pas en forme aujourd’hui, elle a mal au ventre depuis ce matin et a déjà vomi deux fois à l’école.
Sa maman Laura est venue la récupérer en voiture pour l’emmener chez le docteur Krieger au plus vite.
Après trente minutes d’attente, c’est au tour d’Elena d’être auscultée par le docteur. Il appuie sur son ventre pour voir d’où provient la douleur.
Il demande ensuite à Elena ce qu’elle a mangé la veille. La fillette regarde sa maman et avoue avoir mangé du chocolat en cachette avant de dormir.
Le docteur sourit et rassure Laura, sa fille n’a rien de grave, et lui conseille de la tisane au gingembre pour faire passer l’indigestion.
Elena is not feeling well today, she has a stomach ache since this morning and has already thrown up twice at school.
Her mom Laura came to pick her up with her car to take her to Dr. Krieger immediately.
After a thirty-minute wait, it is Elena’s turn to be examined by the doctor. He presses on her stomach to see where the pain comes from.
He then asks Elena what she ate last night. The little girl looks at her mom and confesses that she had eaten some chocolate in secret before going to sleep.
The doctor smiles and reassures Laura, that her daughter has nothing serious, and advises to give her some ginger tea to make the indigestion go away.
Text 9 – Cow invasion:
Les habitants d’un petit village alsacien ont eu une drôle de surprise dimanche lorsqu’ils ont aperçu des dizaines de vaches au réveil.
Selon les autorités, le troupeau aurait profité d’un enclos mal refermé pour s’échapper d’une ferme à proximité de Colmar.
Les animaux ont immédiatement commencé à brouter la végétation d’un terrain vague.
L’incident insolite a beaucoup amusé les enfants du village qui se sont venus caresser les animaux et qui ont pris des photos avec eux.
Leur propriétaire a finalement été averti et il est venu récupérer son troupeau.
The residents of a small Alsatian village had a strange surprise on Sunday when they saw dozens of cows when they woke up.
According to the authorities, the herd escaped from a farm near Colmar after an enclosure was left unlocked.
The animals immediately started to graze on the vegetation of a vacant lot.
The bizarre incident amused the children of the village who came to pet the animals and took pictures with them.

Text 10 – Wildfire:
Un feu de forêt s’est déclaré samedi dans le sud de la France. L’incendie a déjà ravagé 20 hectares de terre et détruit trois maisons.
Plus de cent pompiers ont été déployés sur place pour lutter contre les flammes. Il y a également deux hélicoptères qui effectuent des largages d’eau.
Aucune victime n’a été signalé pour le moment.
Une centaine d’habitants ont été évacués par précaution, et plusieurs routes ont été fermées dimanche par les autorités.
Des vents forts sont attendus lundi, ce qui ne devrait pas faciliter le travail des pompiers.
A wildfire broke out on Saturday in the south of France. The fire has already ravaged 20 hectares of land and destroyed three houses.
More than one hundred firefighters have been deployed on site to fight the flames. There are also two helicopters carrying out water drops.
No casualties have been reported at this time.
About 100 residents were evacuated as a precaution, and several roads were closed Sunday by authorities.
